How to Install and Maintain Turntable Bearings?

2020-02-12

It is necessary to do a correlation check if you install turntable bearings. Turntable bearing is a large-sized bearing with a special structure that can support a large number of axial loads, radial loads, and overturning moments at the same time. Besides, slewing bearings have multiple functions such as support, rotation, transmission, and fixation. For large size slewing bearings, we must do proper maintenance and storage to avoid possible damage to the turntable bearings.

install turntable bearings

1.Install Turntable Bearings

Before the turntable bearing is installed, the installation surface of the host must be inspected. The support part should have sufficient strength, the contact surface should be machined, flat, and free of debris and burrs. For those that cannot be machined to achieve the required flatness, special plastics with high strength can be used as fillers to ensure the accuracy of the mounting plane and to reduce vibration. The ring of the turntable bearing has a soft point area. This is marked "S" on the end face of the ring. The soft belt position should be placed in the non-load area or the non-constant load area during installation.

When installing a turntable bearing, first perform radial positioning, tighten the mounting bolts crosswise, and check the rotation of the bearing. There should be sufficient pre-tightening force when tightening the bolt, and its pre-tightening force should be 70% of the yield limit of the bolt material. The mounting bolts should be equipped with tempered flat washers. Spring washers are strictly prohibited.

2. Maintenance of Turntable Bearings

After the turntable bearings are installed and put into operation after 100 hours of continuous operation, the pre-tightening torque of the mounting bolts should be fully checked, and the above inspection should be repeated every 500 hours of continuous operation. And slewing rings should be filled with a suitable amount of grease, and rotate the bearing during greasing to make the lubricant evenly distributed. After operating for a period of time, the turntable bearing will inevitably lose a part of the grease. Therefore, the grease should be replenished once every 50 to 100 hours in the normal operation of the turntable bearing.

3. Transport and Storage of Turntable Bearings

During transportation, the bearings should be placed horizontally on the vehicle. Measures should be taken to prevent sliding and vibration, and add auxiliary support if necessary.
